My Battle After A Stroke

I had a stroke in 2016. I was a small 65kg fit and active but not healthy with high cholesterol.

You know the old saying: "I'm skinny, nothing will happen". Well it did.

After years of trying to control headaches from the stroke and not being able to lift more than 5kg, I would black out or loose my vision.

I Tried To Control My Weight But Nothing Worked

I ballooned out to 115kg, finally telling my doctor everything he was giving me to try help me loose weight was not working. I had weight loss medications but nothing worked.

Knowing how he had helped my close relatives, I wanted to see Dr Lockie, so I made the appointment, booked the operation and had the tests done. I had to lose a bit of weight before starting, and did that using opti-slim, getting down to 107kg on the day of surgery.

There Were Small Problems But A Great Outcome

You will lose weight, tick, you will loose hair (don't worry it grows back), you will have loose skin, but who gives a crap when you have your life back. 

You won't be able to eat as much as you used to but no problem. I now enjoy and am very picky at what I eat and I actually like food now.

When it comes to clothes, you will need to buy a WHOLE new wardrobe. (Biggest tick!).

Do yourself a favour, start thinking of you.  As a mum of four you always put your kids and husband first. 

Then I finally decided I had to put me first so I could continue to be there for my family and I am very glad I did.
