Weight Loss Support Group Summary - August 2023
Whilst weight loss surgery will have a dramatic effect on your health and wellbeing in the short term, it does not guarantee success in the long term. Patients need to make changes to their habits and lifestyle which takes advantage of the chance the the surgery has given them.
That is the reason Dr Lockie's practice takes a long term approach to weight loss. This is one of the reason's why Dr Lockie compares favourably with other top bariatric surgeons when it comes to results over time (see more here).
Of course, the Weight Loss Support Group itself is one of those important elements of Dr Lockie's success.
Here is Dr Michele's report of the meeting.
The August Support Group was very well attended last Monday night with a mixture of new and current patients. There were a number of long term patients including people who had surgery more than a few years ago.
The topic was long term weight maintenance.
The takeaway message from the group was:
- Remember that bariatric surgery is a tool to aid in weight loss, but your success ultimately depends on your commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
- It's essential to work closely with the team and make sustainable changes to maintain your weight loss in the long term and enjoy improved health and well-being.
- Be Patient and Kind to yourself:
- Weight maintenance can bechallenging, and it's normal to have ups and downs.
- Be patient with yourself and stay committed to your long-term goals.
- Celebrating success after weight loss surgery is important to acknowledge your achievements, stay motivated, and maintain a positive outlook on your journey towards better health.
