Each month our Support Group Convenor, Dr Michele Van Vuuren, will provide a short report on the discussions and presentations from the support group.
Here is her March Support Group report:
The speaker at the Support Group last Monday night was Plastic Surgeon Dr Mathew Peters.
It was a very informative night with patients given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. The takeaway message from the evening was:
- Dr Peters recommends you are in a "stable" position when having plastic surgery
- weight stable,
- psychologically stable and
- in a good nutritional state.
- Wait time for initial appointments can vary - so best to book in early. Patients typically wait 4-5 months for an initial appointment.
- Plastic surgery has many benefits including:
- improved body image,
- increased self worth and self esteem and
- may encourage increased physical activity levels and further weight loss.
Kind Regards

A note from Dr Lockie's Practice
Patients can think ahead if they are thinking of plastic surgery by discussing it with Dr Phil Lockie at their initial appointment.
You can take advantage of the support group evenings where this topic is discussed every year at least once, with our recommended plastic surgeon.
Next Support Group
The next Support Group takes place on April 24th 2023 with the session being Patient Driven. The year's schedule for support activities can be found here.
All patients of Dr Lockie are eligible to attend Support Group. If you do not already get an invitation each month, please phone us on 3355 2011 to be put into our Support Group List.
If you are not already a patient, you can attend a Initial Consultation at the practice, which will make you eligible.
