Our June Support Group
Thank you to all who joined our recent support group meeting! It was a great session, filled with insightful discussions and shared experiences. For those who couldn't make it, here's a quick recap of the key topics we covered:
Strategies for Managing Emotional Eating
Identifying Triggers:
- We discussed the importance of recognizing emotional eating triggers, such as stress, boredom, or loneliness.
- Keeping a food journal was suggested as a useful tool to track eating patterns and emotions.
Developing Healthy Coping Mechanisms:
- Ideas included physical activities like walking or yoga, engaging in hobbies, and practicing mindfulness or meditation.
- Reaching out for support from friends, family, and or the team was identified as important.
Mindful Eating Techniques:
- Practicing mindful eating by savoring each bite, eating slowly, and paying attention to hunger and fullness cues.
- Weight Maintenance Post-Surgery
Consistent Meal Planning:
- Emphasis on planning meals and snacks to avoid impulsive eating and to ensure balanced nutrition.
Setting Realistic Goals:
- Focusing on small, achievable goals and celebrating progress along the way to stay motivated.
